Repetition of Postures
It is usual to repeat some of the postures during yoga. Standing
poses, sitting poses and twists, could be repeated as long as
they do not cause fatigue. However, do not repeat the inverted
postures and recuperative positions.
Timing of Postures
Guidance is given in the asanas
section for the timing of each posture. When you first begin
yoga, do not hold a posture for too long, until you are familiar
with the posture and gain stamina. Gradually increase the time
spent in each of the postures.
Breathing in the
Postures
Do upward movements with an inhalation and downward movements
with an inhalation. This means you should start a movement at
the beginning of an inhalation or exhalation, and conclude it
at the end of the same breath if possible. Do not hold your
breath while in a posture. |
